Private rented buildings over 1,000 m² · England and Wales
About this site
EPC B Deadline reports, council by council, how many privately let non-domestic buildings over 1,000 m² in England and Wales hold an EPC rated below B: the standard the Government has proposed for them from 2031.
Where the numbers come from
The Energy Performance of Buildings Register, published by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government: 1,328,559 non-domestic certificates in the full load dated 2026-10-01. We keep the newest certificate per building, count a certificate as valid for ten years, and count a building as let if any of its certificates was lodged for letting.
Checked against the official statistics
Counted by year, the register reproduces MHCLG’s published live table of non-domestic certificates by rating band to within 1.5% in every year from 2013 to 2025 (0.6% overall), and the share rated A+ to B to within 0.1 points.
What the register cannot tell us
- Who occupies a building, or whether a let has ended.
- Exemptions registered on the PRS Exemptions Register.
- Buildings that have never needed an EPC.
